Thursday, March 15 at 1PM in the Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee Room (#228) at the Maine State House we have a chance to change the way student loans affect Maine graduates – and those who wish to move here to begin their careers after college.
This proposed bond will give the Finance Authority of Maine the resources to buy down interest rates for qualified Maine graduates, as well as reduce rates and consolidate debt for those moving here to find employment. Rather than loan forgiveness, it’s tied to employment in Maine, and making loans more manageable.
It’s a big idea, and Maine would be the first in the nation to do it. Submit written testimony to email@example.com or even better, attend in person. You don’t need to register in advance, but I’d love it if you would let me know that you’ll be there firstname.lastname@example.org!
